Each year YSFF gives a $3,000 prize through the Julia Reichert Award to an emerging female documentary filmmaker. Submissions take place through our website separate from FilmFreeway and open in the Spring. In addition each year the festival provides a free educational seminar open to the public and partners with Wavelength Productions to showcase a program of short films directed by female or non-binary BIPOC filmmakers.
